If you live in or around Auckland, New Zealand, then consider it a moral imperative that you attend the Auckland Coffee Festival happening this weekend at Shed 10 in Queen’s Wharf. Beyond all the great coffee foods, coffee beers, and coffee cocktails, this year’s festival will be your last chance to taste the exotic Pink varieties of Bourbon and Caturra roasted and beautifully packaged by Flight Coffee Co.

Grown by brothers Norberto and Geremais Quisabony on their neighboring farms in Huila, Colombia, the two coffees are grown in near identical ways in order to highlight the inherent flavor differences in these two rare varieties. The Pink Bourbon (grown on Norberto’s farm, El Diviso) has notes of green apple, apricot, and red grape whereas the Pink Caturra (from Geremais’ farm, El Progreso) has flavors of grapefruit, blackcurrant, and honey.

And the Auckland Coffee Festival is your last chance to taste the Pink Varietal Series, for this year at least. Tickets for the event are only NZ$14.00, which is a small price to try these not-often-seen Pink coffee varieties. We’re not bitter or anything, but if you are able to go and choose not to while those of us on the other side of the world are damning our geographical luck, then I just don’t think that we can be friends.
